Privacy Policy — Selley Authenticator

Chrome extension · Effective 28 July 2026 · Last updated 28 July 2026

Selley Authenticator is a companion browser extension for the Selley platform. It exists for a single purpose: to let you connect your own resale-marketplace seller accounts to Selley by capturing the session credentials your browser receives when you log in to those marketplaces.

The Extension never collects your passwords. Login form fields of type password, and any field whose name suggests a password, are explicitly excluded from capture. You type your marketplace password directly into the marketplace's own login page; the Extension does not read it, store it, or transmit it.

1. What the Extension collects

DataWhy it is collected
Session cookies from a marketplace you explicitly choose to connect (name, value, domain, path, expiry, and security flags) These are the authentication tokens that let Selley act on your behalf on that marketplace — listing items, syncing inventory, and reading order status. Without them Selley cannot operate your connected store.
Account identifier — the email address or username you enter on the marketplace login page Used solely to verify that the account you just logged into matches the account you asked Selley to connect. If they do not match, the connection is cancelled.

Collection is scoped and deliberate. Nothing is captured until you click "Connect" (or "Refresh") for a specific channel inside the Selley web application, and capture is limited to the domain of that one marketplace. The Extension does not read cookies from, monitor, or collect data from any other site you visit.

2. What the Extension does not collect

3. How the data is used and where it goes

Captured session cookies are passed to the Selley web application running in your own browser tab, which transmits them over HTTPS to Selley's servers. There they are stored and used exclusively to maintain your authenticated connection to the marketplace you connected.

We do not sell, rent, or trade this data. We do not share it with third parties for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to operating the connection you requested. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or for creditworthiness or lending assessments.

4. Clearing marketplace data before a connection

To guarantee that the session captured belongs to the account you intend to connect — and not to a previously signed-in account — the Extension clears existing cookies and site storage (localStorage, IndexedDB, cache storage, service workers) for that single marketplace domain only immediately before opening its login page. This is why the Extension requests the browsingData permission. No other site's data is ever touched.

5. Permissions and why each is required

PermissionPurpose
cookiesRead the session cookies of a marketplace you connect, so Selley can act on your behalf.
tabsOpen the marketplace login page, detect when login completes, close the tab afterwards, and return you to the Selley tab.
scriptingDisplay the on-page "connecting" banner and cancel button, and read the account identifier you enter so it can be matched against the expected account.
browsingDataClear stale session data for the one marketplace domain being connected (see section 4).
Host permissions for specific marketplace domainsRestrict all of the above to the named resale marketplaces Selley supports, plus Selley's own web application.

6. Data retention and deletion

Session cookies are retained for as long as the corresponding sales or sourcing channel remains connected to your Selley account. When you disconnect a channel, the stored session data for that channel is deleted. When you close your Selley account, all associated stored session data is deleted.

You can revoke access at any time by disconnecting the channel in Selley, by logging out of the marketplace directly, or by uninstalling the Extension. To request deletion of stored data, contact us at the address below.

7. Security

All transmission occurs over encrypted HTTPS connections. Stored session data is held on access- controlled infrastructure and is accessible only to the Selley systems that operate your connected channels.

8. Children

Selley and the Extension are business tools intended for resale sellers and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate announced within the Selley application.
